Wedding Photography Category – Winner
I was utterly gobsmacked to win the wedding category at the Event Photography Awards held earlier this week at the stunning No4. Hamilton Place in Mayfair, London.
Event Photography Awards in Mayfair, London
The awards are held annually in London and have grown to become a prestigious event on the photography calendar, attracting entries from all over the world. The organisers and sponsors pull out all the stops and put on a really grand event with plenty of gorgeous canapés and drinks.
Having been a finalist three times in the last four years, I was delighted just to make the shortlist once again with this image I captured during Izzy & James’s wedding at The Fisherman’s Retreat in Lancashire last year.
I was completely blown away when they announced I was an event photography awards winner in the wedding category and I had to go up on stage to collect my trophy.
My heartfelt congratulations to all the other winners and everyone who was shortlisted or highly commended, there were some incredibly talented photographers in the room and it was a real honour to mingle and chat to some really inspirational characters.
I even got a shiny trophy, which now takes pride of place on my desk.
Thank you so much to the event director Graham Hill along with all the other organisers and sponsors. A huge amount of work goes into organising events like this and they all deserve a big round of applause for putting on such a cracking show.
Massive thanks to Izzy and James (and Izzy’s dad) whose wedding I was photographing when I captured this image, it was a really special moment and I feel honoured to be able to freeze time for a living.
Finally, I must thank my good friend David Pérez Montes for being my plus one on the night and allowing me to bed down in his hotel after I missed the last train to Manchester due to overindulging in the free cocktails. I was so hungover the next day!
Lots of love
