Event Photography Awards Finalist 2017 – Second year running!

Yesterday I received the wonderful news that one of my wedding images has made the final shortlist of five for the second year running in the Wedding Photography category at the Event Photography Awards 2017. The awards ceremony is to be held at the historic Dutch Hall, right in the heart of London on Thursday 27th April.

Event Photography Awards 2017 – Cocktails and Canapés in London

Like last year where I came in third place, I’ve been informed that competition was fierce and submissions were received from all over the world. So I’m proper chuffed to have made the final once again and I can’t wait to enjoy the wonderful hospitality provided by the event organisers and sponsors (free cocktails and canapés – wooooop!). 🙂

Below is the image that has made the final, it was taken during Mary & John’s amazing Tower Hill Barns wedding in September 2016 and features the bride smashing the dance floor with two of her bridesmaids. It is actually one of my favourite images and while it may not be the most flattering wedding photograph ever taken, it certainly has a lot of life and energy, which reflects my approach to wedding photography.

Shortlisted images

I’m very much looking forward to meeting the other photographers who made the final, on the night all the shortlisted images will be on display with the panel of judges announcing the overall winner in each category. A fellow north-west based wedding photographer and good friend of mine, Andy Griffiths, has also made the final and we’ve decided to hit London together to represent the north. And drink lots of free booze of course. Hopefully one of us can bring home the winner’s award on an open top bus!

Thank you

I must thank Mary and John whose wedding I was photographing when I captured this image. Without you booking me to do my thing I wouldn’t be in this position. Thank you.

Wish me luck!

Peace is free,

Steve x
