Highly Commended in the Weddings Category
Yesterday I attended the Event Photography Awards 2016 at the historic Church House just around the corner from the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London. Two of my wedding photographs had made the final shortlist of five images so it was a real honour to be invited along for the awards evening and enjoy the wonderful hospitality provided by the event organisers and sponsors.
Whilst I didn’t win the award outright, I was delighted to have one of my images “highly commended” by the panel of judges, effectively coming in third place. The runner-up spot went to Paul Clarke with the overall wedding category winner going to Andrew Billington, whom I send my warmest congratulations. It was great to meet you last night.
My photograph that caught the eye of the judges was taken last December during the wedding of Kat & Ste at the stunning Didsbury House Hotel in Manchester. The throwing of the bouquet is an old tradition that doesn’t happen too often at weddings these days, on this occasion Kat decided to throw her bouquet soon after the first dance and I’m so happy that I managed to capture such a fun moment. This type of image is exactly the type of moment I love to create in my documentary style, packed full of life, energy and emotion.
I want to thank everyone for your support over the last few years, special thanks must go to my wife who accompanied me to the event, she has encouraged me throughout my journey as well as putting up with my lengthy and often unsocial hours. Also I have to mention the fantastic job she did of abusing the free wine and cocktails on offer last night!
Peace is free

Well done Steve, it’s no small achievement to persevere in this industry and reach the level you have. Bravo
Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you to say so. 🙂
