Cheshire Woodland Weddings in Northwich
If you’re in love with the idea of a beautiful woodland venue for your big day, then you absolutely must pay a visit to the incredible Cheshire Woodland Weddings.
Set within the countryside in Northwich, the venue offers something that is becoming increasingly popular with couples who want their wedding to feel relaxed, informal and a little different from the usual hotel or country house.
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing weddings here a few times and it’s one of my favourite places to work, its definitely the type of venue that seems to appeal to the more laid-back couples who enjoy spending their time in the great outdoors.

A woodland wedding ceremony
Woodland wedding venues have become very popular over the last few years and it’s easy to see why.
The ceremony is held within the venue’s private woodland, taking place beneath a thatched shelter surrounded by trees. The woodland ceremony area is licensed for civil ceremonies and offers something very different from a traditional indoor wedding setting.
After the ceremony, guests can make their way through the woodland and enjoy drinks in the outdoor surroundings. The waterside gazebo provides another spot for guests to gather, with the lake and surrounding countryside creating plenty of opportunities for photographs.

Activities for you and your guests
One of the biggest differences between this location and a more traditional wedding venue is the choice of activities. Rather than spending the whole day moving between a ceremony room, dining room and dance floor, this woodland venue makes the great outdoors part of the experience.
Couples can arrange a mixture of outdoor activities for their guests, which can be incorporated into the wedding day to give everyone something to do between the ceremony and reception, or simply provide a bit of friendly competition and entertainment.
Activities include a live falconry display, archery, crazy golf and air rifles. You can chat to the team to run through an extensive list of all the activity options for your day.
Falconry Display
Falconry is one of the standout options and having photographed the display in action, I can personally recommend it, it was so much fun.
Guests can get close to birds of prey, while the venue’s friendly and knowledgable falconry team will co-ordinate the display.
It’s the sort of activity that gives guests something to talk about long after the wedding, and it fits naturally with the woodland setting as well as being interesting and informative.

Stunning barn for your wedding breakfast
The barn is large and can accommodate up to 200 guests (150 during the day and an additional 50 in the evening) with ample space for dining, drinking and dancing.
There are indoor and outdoor bar areas, along with a relaxing lounge space where guests can take a break from the dance floor.
Outside, fire-pits add another area for guests to gather during the evening. It gives the reception a more informal feel, particularly for couples who want their wedding to be about spending time with friends and family rather than following a rigid schedule.

Is Cheshire Woodland Weddings dog friendly?
You bet it is! Dogs are encouraged and my dogs at weddings blog is packed full of useful information (and photos of dogs at weddings, which everyone loves to see!).
As with all dog friendly wedding venues, please chat with the wedding coordinators beforehand to ensure you are aware of which parts of the venue are safe for dogs and which are out of bounds.

Is there accommodation on-site at Cheshire Woodland Weddings?
Yes there is, and given the venue’s great location within Cheshire, there’s stacks of accommodation available nearby including glamping options at Blakemere, making it possible for your guests to turn the wedding into more of a weekend experience.

Book a visit with the team
Having worked alongside Ebony and Alex (wedding coordinators), I can vouch for their friendliness and professionalism. The same goes for all the other staff members, everyone working here is super lovely.
Get in touch with the team to arrange a visit, they’ll be delighted to show you around and discuss your wedding.
The evening party
There’s plenty of scope to make the evening reception your own, with a separate part of the barn set aside for a DJ, band and a dance floor. Live music is allowed, while DJs can continue later into the evening with last orders called 11:15pm.
The barn can also accommodate things such as photo booths, but make sure you discuss this with your wedding coordinator in advance.

Enjoy my work? My 2027 and 2028 diary is now open
I’m a huge believer that your wedding day shouldn’t feel like one big staged photoshoot with millions of posed photos.
As a guide, I recommend allowing around 15 minutes in your schedule for a few family & friend group photos and another 10 or 15 minutes for some portraits of just the two of you. I want you to spend the overwhelming majority of your day enjoying the company of those closest to you.

Lots of love
