A collection of my personal favourite images from a wonderful year of weddings
First of all I’d like to wish you all a very happy new year!
There’s not really any other way I can put it. It’s been an amazing year at Steve Grogan Photography. It has been an absolute privilege to photograph 49 weddings in four different countries – England, Spain, Scotland and Wales. It’s been so tricky but lots of fun picking out the moments to make this best wedding photography selection.
See if you can spot a moment from your wedding, there’s even a former Big Brother housemate in here somewhere!
Some numbers for you…
Over the year the numbers are pretty mind-blowing…
49 Weddings
48 Brides
50 Grooms
4 Countries
12 Church Weddings
4 Barn Weddings
1 UNESCO World Heritage Site Wedding
1 Cathedral Wedding
3 National Trust Weddings
5053 Miles Traveled
There are a few other things that made 2016 such a brilliant year.
During April I was honoured to be invited to the Event Photography Awards at the historic Church House just around the corner from the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London. Not one but two of my images from last year made the final shortlist of five in the final of the wedding section. While I didn’t win the award outright one of my photographs was “highly commended” by the panel of judges, coming in third place overall.
I also had my work published in Your North West Wedding magazine and the 2017 edition of Cheshire Bride Magazine. Also, I have had my work featured on Bride’s Up North, one of the UK’s biggest wedding blogs as well as Zankyou Weddings who described me as an “Inspirational documentary photographer”.
Steve Grogan Photography – Best Wedding Photography – A Review of 2016
Below is a selection of some of my personal favourite images from the year. There is at least one image from every wedding I’ve photographed during 2016. Some of the choices may not be obvious, but I’m proud of all of these images and they make me smile.
Throughout the year I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside some outrageously talented wedding suppliers, it really has been an absolute blast and a big shout out goes to Sam Fitton – Manchester Magician, Richard and the guys at The Fraudsters, Jo Gendle at Jo Gendle Films, Ali & Bec at Diddibox Flowers, Liz at Unity Ceremonies, Gillian at Pin-up Hair in Glasgow, David at David Lee Events, Sam at Bridal Hair by Sam Gateley, Sarah at Pink Cocoa, Jodie at Jodie Smith Make-up & Styling, Kelly at Kelly Louise Floral Artistry, Damian at Decks & Decor, Gavin and the guys at The Rush. I can’t wait to work with you again.
I’ve also visited some wonderful wedding venues and have added a few more to my list of personal favourites including Quarry Bank Mill, Victoria Warehouse, Great John Street Hotel, King Street Townhouse, Styal Lodge, New Lanark Mill, Tower Hill Barns, The Wellbeing Farm, Gibbon Bridge Hotel, The Saddleworth Hotel, Brockholes Nature Reserve, The Ashes Barns, Trafford Hall and The Hacienda San Jose in Spain.
I must also thank my second shooter/pet chimp, Lauren Jo Kelly, who has assisted me on a number of weddings during the year. Thank you. 🙂
I hope you’ve enjoyed looking over some of my best wedding photography of 2016. Thank you so much to every single one of my couples. I send you my warmest wishes for 2017. 🙂
Peace is free

Awesome work mate… here’s to a great 2017!
Thank you so much Rob, I appreciate your kind words. All the best to you for the rest of 2016 and 2017. 🙂
Fabulous! Amazing photos and such a wonderful tribute to all the Brides and Grooms. Here’s to the next 12 months
Thanks very much indeed, Carol & John. 🙂
Love them all! You’re a genius Steve.
You are too kind, thank you very much. 🙂 x
I spend hours looking at photographs on the net, both old and new. I love the stories they tell. I very much admire your work, I am a fan of the spontaneous photograph that captures an unscripted moment in time and you certainly have a great eye for that as well as the stunningly beautiful compositions. I’m also aware of the work you do for those in very sad circumstances (my daughter Kate Taylor, ex Friends told me and suggested I followed you of FB). I’m no expert on art but I have an appreciation for all things beautiful. Congratulations on being a modern day artist, and I wish you well for the future.
Thank you so much Lynn, your words are very humbling. 🙂
The absolute joy, love and pure emotion is tangible from these beautiful photos. Amazing. An absolute pleasure to see.
Thank you very much Lesley, you are very kind. 🙂
We loved having you and Lauren at our wedding! Everyone who has seen them so far thinks they’re amazing too. I just wish we’d had more time to explore photos all over the site!
Thank you so much Lianne, it was a pleasure to photograph your wedding in such a glorious setting. 🙂
