Married underneath Stan the T-Rex at Manchester Museum
To say I was excited about photographing Rachel & Danny’s Manchester Museum wedding would be a huge understatement. I’ve been visiting the museum since I was a child and the prospect of working directly underneath Stan the T-Rex was such a buzz. Stan was excavated in 1992 in South Dakota, USA by palaeontologist Stan Sacrison. A cast of his skelton, the second most complete T-Rex ever excavated, now sits proudly in the museum. If you’ve never been you’re really missing out.
Snakes, geckos and dinosaurs at this Manchester Museum Wedding
Aside from the main attraction of Stan, the museum is also home to several other animals. The wedding guests were given a private tour and were able to hold some of the animals whilst the knowledgable museum staff were on hand to answer questions.
I even had the entire place to myself whilst the guests were seated for the wedding breakfast, I was able to wander around the exhibits without the usual crowds. It was like something out of the film Night at the Museum. Well, except the dinosaurs didn’t come back to life. Booo!
Here’s a few images from a superb day.
Thank you to Rachel and Danny for having me along for the ride, it was an absolute honour to document your wedding day in such a cool venue. Many congratulations and I send you my warmest wishes for the future.
A big shout out to the staff at the museum for looking after me and Lauren, and thanks as ever to the fabulous Lauren Jo Kelly for assisting me on the day.
