Hambledon House Wedding in Godalming, Surrey

Charlotte and Alex’s Hambledon House wedding was epic. With an eclectic mix of Elizabethan and Victorian architecture, the venue is set within 200 acres of spectacular grounds in the charming Surrey hills around an hour from central London. It was an absolute dream to photograph.

What is a Mancunian wedding photographer doing in Surrey?

Charlotte and Alex first got in touch with me way back in 2015. Charlotte had seen my photos from Steve and Laura’s wedding at The Place Hotel in Manchester. My images from that day went a little viral due to the fact that Steve had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and the story resonated with people all over the world.

Charlotte saw one of the many news articles online about that particular story and got in touch to ask if I would be willing to travel down south to photograph her wedding to Alex.

Early summer heatwave at Hambledon House

After the wedding ceremony at the beautiful Wonersh Church (where Charlotte was Christened in 1991) we headed over to Hambledon House for the reception. The early summer heatwave meant the guests could really make the most of the stunning grounds.

So here you go…50 photographs from the day.

All completely natural moments.

Nothing set up just for the sake of the camera.

I just let Charlotte and Alex spend the entire day with their loved ones whilst I mingled around with a couple of cameras.

It was bloody great fun. Enjoy!

Supplier shout out!

This Hambledon House wedding didn’t come together without the talent and hard work of the people who helped make it happen. A huge high five goes out to the following suppliers:

Lyn, Heidi and the dedicated team at Blank Canvas Weddings event planners who were instrumental in the staging of such an amazing day. They met with Alex and Charlotte a couple of years ago when the planning was in the early stages. Hambledon House is one of the venues on offer from Black Canvas Weddings.

The guys at The Lovely Bubbly Co. Thank you so much for feeding and watering me on the day. I would have melted without you!

The lovely Vicar at Wonersh Church. I’ve forgotten your name, I do apologise.

Hambledon House.

Sarah of Ray McShane Films. It was wonderful to work alongside you!

Bricks Catering.

John and the team from Mighty Fine Entertainment. Always great to chat to a fellow parent of twins!

Fairy Nuff Flowers.

Kaz fron Kaz Fernando Make Up.

And anyone else who was involved who I may have forgotten or not known about, great work everyone.

Thank you

Finally, to the newlyweds; thank you so much for having me along for the ride. Your family and friends made me feel so welcome. I arrived as some northern bloke with a few cameras and left having made some new friends. It was a pleasure!

Charlotte & Alex have since left me the following review on my business Facebook page:

Difficult to know what to say to do justice to Steve and his amazing work. What a lovely, friendly guy and so so talented. We came across Steve by chance and we are so glad we did. We highly recommend Steve as a wedding photographer – we don’t think you could get better!

Get in touch

If you like my work and are getting married, please get in touch for a chat about your day in more detail. I’d love to hear from you.

Peace is free

Steve x

Thank you very much Patsy. Apologies that I forgot your name, I’ve slept a few times since then. Ha ha. It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for allowing me so much freedom to photograph the wedding ceremony. x
