A super relaxed wedding in Meltham
Meltham in North Yorkshire was the setting for Jo and Martyn’s gorgeous Durker Roods Hotel Wedding. When Jo and Martyn booked me last year and informed me where they were getting married, I’d never heard of this particular venue before. Turns out it was a wonderful setting for a wedding and definitely a venue I would refer to as a hidden-gem. I can’t wait to photograph here again!
A Durker Roods Hotel Wedding in the Yorkshire hills
When I first met Jo I liked her immediately. She has such a warm personality and wanted her wedding day to be super relaxed with one or two deviations from tradition. As you can see, Jo’s dress was partially dyed blue for a more alternative look.
The first dance was a beautifully choreographed surprise for the guests. Jo and Martyn had been taking dancing lessons for a few weeks before the wedding with Jo also changing into a more comfortable and practical dress specifically for the first dance.
In fact, as is often the case with this kind of thing, I was the only person aside from the newlyweds who knew about their plans to surprise everyone in the evening. They had given me a heads-up a few days earlier so that I knew what to expect and ensure I was in the best position.
Grab yourself a brew and enjoy some of my favourite moments from the day.
Thank you
A million thanks go to the newlyweds for having me along for the ride. I had such a brilliant day. Thank you for looking after me so much on the day. It was great to sample the entirely vegan menu and that vegan chocolate brownie was one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten! Compliments to the chef at Durker Roods Hotel.
A big shout out must go to The Distractions who provided the evening musical entertainment. It was great to work alongside you guys!
